The goal of this award is to promote innovative and particularly applicable genetics research, increase interest in fisheries genetics careers, and enhance professional connections among fisheries geneticists. The candidate\u2019s genetics work should be applicable to the Society\u2019s mission to \u201cimprove the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science\u201d. The award will be presented at the Genetics Section meeting during the AFS Annual Meeting. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>  There are no restrictions on nominators.  A nominee must be a full or affiliate member of the AFS Genetics Section and must be within five years of having completed graduate training, including post-doctoral research, and in the initial stages of career development whether that be in an academic, agency, NGO, or other conservation setting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nomination package:<\/strong>  Nominations should provide clear evidence of how the candidate\u2019s research furthers our understanding of fish evolution, ecology, conservation or management.  Leadership in integrating genetic research with education or end-user\/community outreach is considered strongly.
